Maria's Upholstery Workshop, based in Meppershall, Bedfordshire, has grown into a well-known centre for learning the craft of upholstery since opening in 2010. We welcome students of all abilities - from complete beginners to those looking to advance their skills in both modern and traditional upholstery techniques. We offer a wide range of learning experiences, including in-house Taster Sessions, structured 2,3 & 5 day courses as well as our flexible and popular 'Pay as You Upholster' Leisure Classes, available as full or half-day sessions.
Our Bespoke Upholstery Projects have been developed for students who wish to explore a particular style of chair, refine a specific skill or master specialist upholstery techniques. The response to these projects has been very positive and we are continually introducing new pieces to offer an even broader choice. These projects form an integral part of our comprehensive range of upholstery courses providing students an opportunity to develop their skills through hands on experience with individual and characterful pieces. With the exception of our Leisure Classes, all courses are fully inclusive of: furniture frames, upholstery materials, tools & equipment, selected fabrics and expert tuition. We are also building a growing reputation for restoring and creating unique upholstered pieces, each with its own character, quality and individuality.
